Laughter is the Best Medicine

Every now and then, and quite often, we all need a GOOD laugh.  I find myself taking myself too seriously at times, as I am sure many of you can relate.  My mind occasionally goes down that all to familiar path of the “What Ifs” in life.

Yesterday morning, I happened to come upon and watch a recent episode of The Daily Show with Trevor Noah on the Comedy Central network.  Within five minutes, I was laughing so hard at the brilliance of the comedic talent of Trevor Noah.  His imitations of well-known figures, his witty and smart dialogue, and his comedic interpretation of National News is beyond entertaining and fun to me. Having a great laugh this morning set the tone for an amazing day for me. Surprisingly, yesterday I felt more energetic and happier, all a result of laughing out loud literally that morning.

Trevor Noah may or may not be your cup of tea.  Nonetheless, today, my friends, I want you to have a good laugh at least once or twice today.  According to the online publication Scientific American, laughter has been scientifically proven to release endorphins, which are natural neurotransmitters in your brain that naturally can create a sense of euphoria.  Additionally, laughter has also been proven to improve our immune systems and reduce stress, fear, and even pain.  Laughter has been proven to increase our pain thresholds. I don’t know about you, but I find this fascinating and beneficial.

I encourage you to laugh today.  Laugh at that friend who is known for telling warm and funny jokes, laugh while watching a humorous television show, laugh while spending precious time with your children, and even laugh at yourself. It’s healthy, it’s needed, and it’s fun.

Have a GOOD LAUGH today. It is often the best medicine.

I welcome and encourage your comments and thoughts. Thank you.
