Friendship Affirmations

I hear you. When you talk and I do not respond immediately, know that I hear every word you are saying. Sometimes, every word does not need an immediate response. As I hear you and listen to you, I am absorbing your thoughts, your stories, your emotions, and your expressions. Oftentimes, being heard is all that one needs. Listening is a lost art.

You are ok. When you vent after you have had a bad day, it is ok. Everyone needs someone to hear them. You are ok.

You are strong. You may not feel this way in this moment, but you are strong. You will get through this. You will be ok. Your strengths outweigh your weaknesses.

It is ok to cry. Never will I tell you to ‘suck it up.’ Crying is a release of emotions. We cry when we are happy; we cry when we are sad. It takes strength to release emotions through tears. The best friends are those with whom we are able to be vulnerable enough to show our authentic emotions.

I love you. I hear you. You are ok. You are strong. My shoulder is here for you to cry upon. I affirm these things to you as I love you. I affirm these things to you as you are my friend.
